Description:
This big-hearted play follows Esther, an African-American seamstress living in turn of the (last) century New York, as she looks for love and home. Esther makes unrivaled undergarments for women from the wealthy penthouses of 5th Avenue, to the strip-clubs of lower Manhattan, and in her story Lynn Nottage explores complex issues of race, gender, class, personal pride, and private loves and lives in a changing world.
