Behind the Scenes
So you want to work on a show? Great! There is a multitude of jobs that could use your expertise and enthusiasm. We encourage you to grow and learn and promise to help you help us—by providing the training and support you need to do your job.
WARDROBE AND COSTUME SHOP
Over 100 characters a year come to life on the Live Arts stage with the help of the Costume Guild, our dedicated volunteer team of sewers, cutter drapers, designers, stitchers, organizers, pullers, and fabulously dedicated disciples of the theatrical textile arts!
Did you know Live Arts has a sweet little costume shop?
Did you know that we have a costume stock stored in nooks and crannies all over the building and now over at our Rehearsal Z space?
Did you know that we have an incredibly dedicated group of volunteers led by Tricia Emlet who has taken on the responsibility of maintaining our costume stock and supporting the design and build of every production at Live Arts?
SCENE SHOP AND SET BUILDS
What a great, hands-on way to build theater and community in Charlottesville. With literally no-experience-necessary you can come into our set building days and not only be of amazing value but also learn new skills on the job. Learn, by the way, only the skills you want to learn: Painting, Faux Painting, Power Tools, Set Construction, Scenic Design and more.
Bonus, nearly all “builds” or workdays in our theater come with lunch or dinner and a chance to meet and chat with others in our community here building, too.
