Part of Live Arts’ commitment to education and forging theater and community includes developing future theater artists both on stage and behind the scenes. Each season we pair teenage apprentices with experienced theater professionals on the production team of one of our mainstage shows. For the 2019-20 season the Mentor/Apprentice show is MEN ON BOATS by Jaclyn Backhaus.

Teens interested in applying to be an Apprentice should attend the Mentor/Apprentice Program Interest Meeting, and/or fill out the application linked below.

The Live Arts Mentor/Apprentice Program provides a unique, hands-on opportunity for teens to learn the crafts of direction, stage management, and theater design while working on a mainstage production alongside experienced designers and staff to create the look, sound, and feel of a production.

We offer apprenticeships in the following categories:

  • Directing
  • Stage Management
  • Scenic Design
  • Set Decoration
  • Costume Design
  • Properties Design
  • Hair and Makeup Design
  • Lighting Design
  • Sound Design
  • Producing
  • Dramaturgy
