LOST HOME, WIN HOME follows the individual perspective of a Black Charlottesville native as she recounts the events leading up to the Unite the Right/Neo-Nazi rally that occurred on August 12, 2017. She provides valuable context to the people, places, and things in her life that affected her experience of the tragic event. So while, yes, this story is about the Unite the Right rally and the circumstances surrounding it, it is also about the unifying concepts of winning, losing, and finding the place we can call home.
Live Arts is proud to present the Virginia premiere of LOST HOME, WIN HOME. The show has been performed previously as a work in progress at the Acorn Theatre New Works Theatre Festival (NYC) and Lifeline Theatre Fillet of Solo Festival (Chicago).
About the Playwright
Shelby Marie Edward is an actor, poet, solo performer, and teaching artist. She is a graduate of Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s professional leadership program and a former member of the 2018 Chicago slam poetry team, Lethal Poetry, and currently works as the development coordinator for Live Arts. Shelby’s first solo show, HOLLY’S IVY, was first presented at the 2018 Fillet of Solo Theatre Festival (Lifeline Theatre, Chicago). She has a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in theater from Virginia Commonwealth University.
