Derick Javon Williams is an associate professor and director of the counselor education program at the University of Virginia. He teaches courses on legal and ethical issues in counseling and race and power structures in counseling contexts. His career focuses on training standards, diversity, equity and inclusion and faculty governance, and he co-coordinates a mentoring program for doctoral students who are underrepresented in their fields. He has been associated with Live Arts since 2015 and has acted in To Kill a Mockingbird and The Royale. He is a member of the Live Arts DEI Strategy Team.
