Dr. Nsofwa Jaronda Chanda

Dr. Nsofwa Jaronda Chanda, a Georgia native, moved to Charlottesville in 2014 to pursue a professional opportunity at the University of Virginia’s Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center. She currently serves as the Assistant Director for Engaged Scholarship. An accomplished educator, director, and community advocate, Dr. Chanda has spent over two decades advancing higher education and nonprofit management.

Since 2023, she has served on the board of Charlottesville Contemporary Arts, Inc. (CCA), where she values the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated team and engage with the various organizations housed within the Live Arts building. Her commitment to service is reflected in her active membership in several community organizations, including The Charlottesville Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, the Black Empowerment Coalition, and the Charlottesville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Outside of her professional and civic engagements, Dr. Chanda enjoys spending time in nature, discovering a good series to binge-watch, and—most of all—cherishing moments with her family, especially her two children, Tumpe and Mekhi.
