Patti Hartigan is the author of August Wilson: A Life, the 2023 biography of the legendary playwright who wrote ten plays about the African-American experience in the 20th century. Before becoming an author, she had a long career as the staff arts reporter and drama critic for the Boston Globe. In addition to sitting on the aisle and running off to write reviews on deadline, Patti focused on issues of censorship and multiculturalism in the art world, introducing readers to a diverse and talented roster of artists. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Patti has been passionate about theater since the time she could walk and talk and is grateful she had the rare opportunity to combine work with play(s).
