Shilpa Davé is an assistant dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and a professor in the department of Media Studies at the University of Virginia, where she teaches courses on representations of race and gender in the media. As a longtime advocate and fan of theater and fine arts, she is delighted to work with Live Arts. Shilpa’s early roles in theater included playing a giant at the age of seven and a tree in her first drama class. A native of Madison, Wisconsin, she has lived and taught in Michigan, Ohio, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts, and has been in Charlottesville for several years. She loves books and films and is a big fan of tennis, college sports and the Green Bay Packers.
